Dear Citizens of
Farmers Branch,
The city council, led by my
opponent, has gotten away from the financially conservative conduct
adopted by Mayor Bob Phelps and his predecessors. This council is
spending money wildly without seeking direction and guidance from
the people that are footing the bill you, the taxpayer. Even in
the face of a national economic down turn, the council is spending our hard-earned savings and borrowing money
at the same time. THIS IS A RECIPE FOR DISASTER:
Farmers Branch Annual Operating Budget
As Mayor of this great city, I will ensure Farmers Branch does
its business in a fiscally responsible way. The City Council must
stop spending our critical financial reserves for frivolous and
non-essential projects. Council members must have their discussions
and make their decisions in open meetings and not behind closed
doors. These meetings must be held at times and places convenient
for most residents to participate.
As Mayor, I will foster an environment in Farmers Branch that is
friendly to business and where developers can profit from building
in our city. An environment where businesses know their
multi-cultural, diverse workforces will be happy living and working
in Farmers Branch. I will assure that the voices of our citizens
are heard on major decisions before the council, and I will
represent all citizens of Farmers Branch.
Proven leadership and management skills will be required to guide
this city through the next critical years. I have lived and worked
in Farmers Branch for 28 years and owned two businesses in the
city. I have honed my leadership and management skills on the
boards of four businesses and several not-for-profit
organizations. For the last 10 years, I have also served the
citizens of Farmers Branch on various committees, taskforces and
city boards, and most recently was Vice-chairperson of the Senior
Center Advisory Board. Because of this experience, a broad and
diverse coalition of Farmers Branch citizens backs my candidacy.
I have the experience and leadership ability, commitment to
financial responsibility and commitment to citizen representation to
be Mayor of Farmers Branch, but I need your vote. Together we can
renew and improve Farmers Branch while preserving its unique history,
essential Character and healthy financial foundation.
Sincerely,
Gene Bledsoe
